Three Days, Three Workshops, One Epic Weekend

Women’s Day weekend hit us like a tropical storm and we didn’t mind one bit! We hosted three epic events at three fabulous locations. The best part? We had a total of 270 guests for the weekend!!! Are you screaming with joy? Because I am.

Friday Night – The Cardinals Baseball Club

We kicked off with a Moms Supporting Moms event at the Boksburg Cardinals Baseball Club. Funny thing is, all the emotions hit me at once. We’re used to 20–50 guests… and here I was, standing in the middle of the hall, swallowing back tears while setting up, because — oh my word — we were about to host something massive.

The night was electric. The spirit was spiriting! It ended with me in tears (happy ones) after the coach’s wife delivered the most beautiful speech.

And then our tropical storm hit for real, clean-up! By 10 PM, we were still on our way home and Saturday prep kicked in! Scrubbing, repacking, counting, and the last minute final stenciling… and if you’ve ever tried to clean paint palettes in a rush, you’ll know why I’m laughing as I type this. We finally crawled into bed after 1 AM, beauty sleep was not on the cards.

Three-ish hours later, the dogs exploded into barking chaos. I shot out of bed, ready to face intruders…LOL YEAH RIGHT!! Me in my gown, hair GROOTER THAN GROOT, in my fluffy socks... Please! I stormed out only to find my brother- and sister-in-law grinning in the driveway with a big SURPRRRIIISE!!! All the way from Pinetown! Overjoyed but still half-asleep, I managed a quick “yay hello” before stumbling back to bed.

Saturday Morning – The Italian Club Bedfordview

The morning came and, listen… one thing is very clear: these events would not have been possible without the incredible team behind me.

Three of my amazing friends,

My mom,

My mother-in-law,

My kids,

and of course my other half.

If they hadn’t been there, none of this would have been possible.

We were like a well-oiled machine, a messy factory. We moved around each other like a waltz, everyone knowing exactly where to step and when. Paint was being prepped, tables set, brushes counted… and somehow, it all turned out beautifully.

Standing on that stage, looking over 160 incredible ladies, I just felt this wave of gratitude and pride crash over me. The scariest thing for a small business is tackling big things, and I think the Boks would’ve been proud of that tackle, because we did it!

The first thing we wanted to do after that event was have an ice-cold beer,  and we did. As soon as I got home, I crashed! The plan was to have a quick afternoon nap… which turned into a full-blown sleep marathon. No dreams, no thoughts, just drool and snoring. That night, we were back at it! Packing, penciling, counting, because Sunday morning, Messy Masterpieces hit the Rabbit Hole Café.

Sunday Morning – The Rabbit Hole Café

This one was slower, quieter. A small group of beautiful ladies, rainbow-coloured cappuccinos, and I didn’t even need a mic. It was just relaxed and the perfect way to spend a Sunday morning.

A beautiful venue, gentle chatter, and yes, I got to tickle a bunny’s nose. That’s always a win.

At the end of the day... or should I say the end of the weekend... we were overcome with joy, gratitude, and pure awe that this actually happened. We pulled it off.  I look forward to more tropical storm weekends like this, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Messy Masterpieces.

Once again, thank you to every single person who attends, likes a post, shares a post. I am so thankful for every single Messy Fan! 💖

PS... Redbull if you happen to see this.... A Redbull Mess collab? Wink wink.

Love,

Sonette
